SMS & Messaging Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
This policy describes the SolidPing SMS and voice alerting programme for the hosted service. It complements the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.
What the programme is
SolidPing monitors websites, APIs, and infrastructure. When a service you have configured stops responding, we alert you. SMS is one of the delivery channels you can choose for those alerts.
Messages are transactional only. We send no marketing, promotional, advertising, or third-party content over SMS, and we never will — it is not a business model we intend to adopt.
| Programme name | SolidPing Alerts |
| Message types | Incident alerts, escalation pages, recovery notices, phone-verification codes, user-triggered test messages |
| Who receives them | Signed-in SolidPing account holders who added and verified their own mobile number |
| Frequency | Event-driven — only when a monitored service changes state. Most accounts receive none in a typical week. |
| Cost | We charge nothing for SMS. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier. |
How you opt in
Consent is explicit, given by you, and proven by a code sent to your handset. No number is ever added by a third party, bought, imported from a list, or enrolled without the round-trip below.
- Sign in to your SolidPing account and go to Account → Notifications.
- Add a contact of type Phone (SMS) and enter your own number in international E.164 format.
- Click Verify. We text a 6-digit code to that number.
- Enter the code back into the dashboard to confirm you control the handset.
A phone number that has not completed this verification is never sent alert messages. Verification codes expire after 10 minutes, allow 5 attempts, and can be re-sent at most 3 times per hour.
Adding a verified number is not on its own enough to be paged: you must also select SMS as a delivery channel for the alert severities you care about. Opting in is therefore a deliberate, two-part choice.
The full workflow, including the consent wording shown on screen and every path by which a number can be enrolled, is documented in the SMS opt-in flow.
Organisation administrators may additionally configure a shared team or on-call number on their own messaging integration. Those numbers belong to the organisation that configures them, and it is that organisation's responsibility to have the consent of anyone who carries the handset.
How to stop messages
Reply STOP to any message. You will be unsubscribed immediately and will
receive no further messages at that number. Reply START to resubscribe.
The following keywords all work: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL,
END, QUIT. Opt-out is handled at the messaging-carrier layer, so it takes
effect regardless of the state of your SolidPing account.
You can also stop messages at any time from the product by deleting the phone contact under Account → Notifications, or by removing SMS from the delivery channels of your alert severities. See Exercise your rights for full deletion.
Every recurring alert we send carries the reminder
Reply STOP to unsubscribe.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message, or email
contact@solidping.io. HELP and INFO both
return our support contact details.
Delivery
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. SMS is a best-effort transport and should not be your only alerting channel for business-critical systems — SolidPing also supports email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, webhooks, and voice calls, and we recommend configuring more than one.
Your data
Phone numbers you add are used solely to deliver the alerts and verification codes described above. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising. Phone verification stores only a hash of the in-flight code, never the code itself, and discards it once verification completes or expires.
SMS and voice are delivered through Twilio. Where we send on our own Twilio credentials — the default for an organisation that has not connected its own Twilio account — Twilio acts as our sub-processor and is listed in our Sub-processors; where your organisation has connected its own account, it sends under that account's own agreement. What we store, for how long, and on what legal basis is set out in the Privacy Policy.
